Coalfields Community Grant helps to fund Village Hall Manager

Thanks to the Coalfields Community Grant programme delivered by the Coalfields Regeneration Trust, the only organisation dedicated to providing support for the coalfield communities to help themselves, Coxhoe Village Hall Association has received more than £8,000 allowing them to appoint a Centre Manager.

Receiving a total of £8,320 the Village Hall Association is looking to appoint a Centre Manager for 20 hours per week who will be responsible for arranging and delivering a variety of services to meet with the needs of the local community.

Already offering a range of activities for all ages including a drop in computer session, Scouts and Beavers, choir sessions, well baby clinics and tea dances plus much more, there is an obvious requirement for further resource in order to maintain the programme of events and classes that are delivered.

Treasurer Mrs Hepplewhite said: “Securing this grant has made a huge difference to the Village Hall. We are right at the heart of the community and although we want to offer a full and exciting programme of activities we are also very mindful that we need the resource to do it. The new Centre Manager will take a great pressure off us and allow us to deal with the things that matter, giving the community a hub they can access and be proud of.”

Head of Operations for the Coalfields Regeneration Trust, Andy Lock said: “We have a range of complex challenges that we address at the Coalfields Regeneration Trust and many of them focus on ensuring that people have the opportunity to develop skills and also socialise. The work that is carried out by Coxhoe Village Hall will make a real and lasting impact on the community and we need to nurture organisations that go out of their way to make our villages and towns a better place to live.”
